Mexico Missions

"If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,  And your darkness shall be as the noonday. The LORD will… satisfy your soul…" Isaiah 58:10-11

In 2005, God gave us the desire and provided an opportunity to take missionary trips to Mexico. Since then we've gone on more than thirty trips. God gave us the opportunity to serve and be a blessing to many people. In Mexico, we support two churches in the city of Tijuana.

One of them is "Agape Mission" – where Pastor Alberto Rivera is ministering. Pastor Alberto Rivera is a man who devoted his life to serving people in Mexico. Although he is originally from Puerto Rico and lived and ministered for a long time in Los Angeles, but when God called him to serve in Mexico, he left everything and moved to Tijuana. Together with the church “Agape Mission", we drive into the poorest areas in the city and evangelize and organize tent meetings there. We feed the people, invite them to the services, pray with them and help them financially.

We have special focus on children. During the evangelization, we gather all the children (and sometimes it could be several hundred kids) and play games with them, put together puppet shows, and set up craft activities. In other words, we bring them the Good News of Christ on their level that they can understand. Every Christmas, we hold a special Christmas evangelizing service, where each child receives a Christmas gift.

We also serve a lot in the church of Pastor Alberto. Two years ago we began organizing an annual 3-day prayer retreats for the leaders and members of the church. The Holy Spirit touches, heals and frees many people. Many people, including children, receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the sign of tongues. God heals many people from physical and mental ailments.

The pastor of another church, David Moore, with whom God miraculously joined us, was born and raised in Tijuana. After he gave his life to God, he ministered as a missionary in several states of Mexico for many years. His church is located in the heart of one of the worst crime areas in Tijuana. Pastor David believes that God placed him in that particular area on purpose, so that He would reach the lowest layer of society. Although we know Pastor David for just a year, we held many evangelizing services together. We also organized a free clinic, with participation of a physician from Sacramento, where we distributed food and medication, as well as prayed for people and preached about God.

In Summer of 2011, together with Pastor David, our group went to 2-week mission trip to Baja California. During this trip we have visited about 10 churches, held many evangelizing services, family seminars, and youth services. We drove over 3000 miles on rough Mexican roads, where we were stopped many times by military patrol. We had to sleep on a concrete floor in many churches. But what’ important, despite all this, we were able to minister and be a blessing to many people. Early next year, we are planning to hold a Bible school at the church of Pastor David Moore. This Bible school is intended for pastors and ministers of the churches we visited on our missionary trip and also for some of the pastors in Tijuana.

We also support three orphanages in the city of Tijuana. One of these homes is dedicated to caring for children who are infected with HIV (AIDS). These children were born with the disease, contracting it from their parents. About 15 of these children are under constant medical supervision. Whenever possible, we help them financially and with food, but most importantly, we pray for them.

Two other orphanages are based on the grounds of one of the local churches. In one orphanage, there are about 45 children, and in the other - 28. These orphanages are entirely dependent on voluntary donations and sponsors. Rent, food and services are very costly in Tijuana. For this reason, as much as it is possible for us, we provide them with financial support. Every year, we organize a 2-day summer camp for these children. We rent camp grounds with a swimming pool and a playground. We organize different sports games for the children, play a Christian game called "Pilgrim", and give the children an opportunity to swim in the pool. This is the only opportunity for these children to enjoy swimming in the pool. And, of course, the most important thing is that we pray for them and with them, we hang out and build relationships with them. Most of these children have no parents who could give them affection and care, and they are in such dire need of these things.

We are entering a holiday season and will be taking many Christmas gifts to Mexico for these orphaned children. If you have a desire and an opportunity, we invite you to participate in this charity, whether it is with finances, with toys (which we need to collect more than 1000), or your prayers, which we really appreciate.

With respect and love,
